What an unusual decorated tin from I believe Pennsylvania.. On the lid it reads: J Hall Rohrman, Philade.
The original painted flowers and dec are just the best in folkart. There is some minor loss to paint on the front. I am not sure if it was a bread tin or some storage like tin, but I am sure it is not common and just super!
It measures 10"X10"X10".

This is a nice large 19th C. carved wood eagle. Pine. It measures 31 1/2" from wing to wing and 14" high. The head was severed at one time and reattached, but it was well done. It has early paint and some of it is gone. The charm and presence is still there and it would hang as a nice patriotic symbol.

If you like animals, this unframed O/C is quite folksy. The scene has a Black man, horses, chickens and a rooster to round out a naive farm scene. It is signed, T E Bartlett 1906. This late 19h C oil has a patch to protect a scar on the front over the barn, but it doesn't appear to go through. It really doesn't detract much when you take in the whole farm scene. It measures 20"X14".

Painting of a Young Girl Dimensions: 17 1/2" by 22" Signed: S.S. Walker Aug. 23 rd, 1844 Type: O/C Price: SOLD Fresh out of an Chatham, NY estate is this painting (along with her sister in the next photo) . The estate was the Robert Pace estate, Slate Hill Road, Chatham, NY. According to the history, the couple was the first to graduate from the Julliard School of Music together. Walker was the artist and he or she must have done both paintings on the same day, Aug. 23rd, 1844. It appears the frames are original and the paintings are in great condition. Both have a small patch on the sleeve areas that may have had touch ups, but they were done a long time ago. Out of the attic in New Hampshire came this wonderful hand painted railroad set, carved for someone's child. It dates about 1850 and has cut nails, screws and old sewing parts for the 3 engines. One of the engines has Hercules written on it and it was produced in Pennsylvania by the Eastwick and Harrison Co in 1837 to the Beaver Meadow Railroad. One of he cars has Concord written on it which was in New Hampshire. There are 12 cars to go with the engines, all hand painted with eagles, ships and other decorations. The engines are about 5" long and the cars are 4 1/2" to 6" long. This is a very rare set of carved trains for some lucky child!!!

Carved Wood Dog
Dim: 18" H Date: Ca 1930 Found: Ohio Price: SOLD I found this about 10 year ago and like some things I never offered it for sale. He has black paint over white with a pink mouth ( must be he supports cancer)! There's a fine line along the body that is colored in on one side, but it doesn't look like a real crack. Anyway, was insignificant to me. A nice carved dog with such a folksy look that made the center of one of my animal folk art drawings. He's def. cool. INTERESTED? Horse Weather Vane
Dimensions: 38" by 17 Date: 19th C Material: Sheet iron over wood Found in Schoharie Cty, NY Price: SOLD This is most unusual and home made weather vane with great original red paint. I like these much better than many of the full body weather vanes. They have more character and show some creativity of the person who made them. This one is really cool and all original untouched. You can see the holes where the rod came up through the horse. I have the original poles and directional that this was mounted on, but being so large I decided to sell the horse which can be displayed much easier. The directional are hand wrought with very old green paint. They can't be shipped and would have to be picked up for an extra $300. Your choice! INTERESTED? Spectacular Slip decorated Pitcher by Don Carpentier
Dim: 11" H Date:2002 Mat: Pottery; White Pearlware Price: SOLD Price: if you know Don's work you will understand how good he was at producing pottery in the likeness of the 18th and 19th C. This pitcher is the highlight of his work. It has motifs of slip dec. earthworm, catseye, fanning and a raised eagle and banner. He didn't do many of these and they are probably his best work A fabulous pitcher for your collection. IT is NOT Mochaware..I keep reiterating that there is no such thing as Mochware. Mocha is a motif. Wares should be defined by their clay. INTERESTED? Contact Us by e-mail at jgallo1@stny.rr.com or by calling (607) 434-2561.
